Hal “D” Myers age 84 went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Sunday morning, May 23, 2021. Hal also known as “Buddy or Bud” was born to Nathaniel Mills Myers and Anna (Darter) Myers in 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Hal grew up and lived most of his life in Oklahoma City. In 1999 he retired and moved to Webber Falls, OK.
In 1956, Hal came home on leave from the US Marines, met and married Sue Battenfield of Muskogee Oklahoma on October, 1956. They were happily married for 64 years. They were often accused of completing each other’s sentences and thoughts.
Hal was a proud Marine Veteran and was a well-known brilliant craftsman, fabricator, designer and engineer. He restored antique automobiles and vintage bicycles that often won awards and can be found in museums today.
He is adored and loved by his 4 children. Matt Myers, the oldest, his dad’s best friend and Matt’s wife Mary of Webbers Fall, daughter - Dawn Hart, his little iron worker of Coweta, Joetta Gatliff - the teacher and her husband John of Mustang, and Susie Rose – Dad’s baby and her husband Barry of Broken Arrow.
The love and care he showed his wife, 4 children and grandchildren will be cherished and passed down for many future generations.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his grandson, Michael “D” Barker, his sister Wanda and her husband Raymond Buchanan, and his sister Meredith and her husband Robert Brackett.
He is survived by his wife Sue of Webbers Falls, and his 4 children and their families. He loved his grandchildren, Tony Callies, Jason and Heather Mann, and Steven and Tracy Barker. He has 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He loves his numerous nieces and nephews that called him “Uncle Bud.”
Hal loved swap meets, barn finds, and “junking”. He was glad when the show called “Pickers” came along and upgraded one of his favorite hobbies. He will be missed for his brilliant mind, great artist hand, and the design of creations and inventions. He was loved for always making you feel comfortable and safe, making you laugh, and teasing you until you teased him back. He loved and cared for his many great friends. He always ended his phone calls by telling you that he loved you! He impacted and changed our lives and he will be loved and remembered forever!
The memorial services will be held at:
Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home, 2801 Chandler Rd, Muskogee, OK 74403
On Wednesday, May 26th at 2:00 pm
Burial will be at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery at a later date.
