Geraldine Butler was born on June 5, 1926 and passed away on January 17, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born in Muskogee, OK to Joe and Virginia (Cottrell) Thatcher. She married the love of her life Jack Lee Butler and they were married for 70 years. They eloped with their best friends Blackie Sikes, and Delphia Pettit, on August 28, 1942.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack L. Butler, her granddaughter Kami Dian Pitman as well as her parents, Joe and Virginia Thatcher, brothers Lee Barnhart, Kenneth Thatcher, and Phillip Thatcher, sisters Lucille Biggs, and Alice Carbone, as well as her best friends Blackie and Delphia Sikes. She attended Muskogee Central High School and later received her GED. She worked at Woolworth for numerous years, Manhattan Construction, Gunn Brothers Stamps, Sooner Market and Muskogee Assemblers. She and Jack moved to OK City, Ok in 2008 to be closer to her daughter and family. She was a wonderful Christian woman, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Kaye Pitman (Jim), of OKC, granddaughter Dina Kelly (Gerad), of Norman, OK, granddaughter Leah Owen (Bret), Choctaw, OK, and grandson Jimmy (Anastasia) Pitman, of OKC, OK. Great grandchildren Lauren Owen, Blake Owen, Brendan Owen, Katie Kelly, Lydia Pitman, Jim Pitman III, Isabella Pitman, and Klara Pitman, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene, in OKC, OK. She had previously been a member of the Muskogee First Church of the Nazarene, in Muskogee, where she was active in her Sunday school class and as a greeter each Sunday.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Muskogee First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Friday from 10 am to 8 pm.
