Bobby Curtis Lenox, Sr., of Muskogee, Oklahoma, was born July 7, 1935 at Braggs, Oklahoma, the son of Sherman A. Lenox and Annie L. Lenox (Harris). He passed from this life on January 16, 2021.
Bobby married Beulah Bowlin on December 19, 1953. He graduated from Fort Gibson High School in 1953 and was then a truck driver from age 18 to 68. Forty-five of those years he drove his truck as an independent truck driver. Many of those years Bobby’s truck was leased to Mistletoe Express. Bobby hired a trucker to drive a route during the day, while Bobby drove a night route, thereby almost keeping the truck running 24 hours a day. Bobby served in the National Guard for 8 years. From spring to fall, Bobby would take his family out in the travel trailer almost every weekend. He enjoyed camping and boating, but he was there to fish. Bobby would sometimes take his family to the Marval Camping Resort in Gore for trout fishing, back before it had cabins or a swimming pool. They would frequently put a boat in at Three Forks Landing to have access to all the catfish in the Verdigris, but especially the Grand and the Arkansas Rivers. When it was too cold to camp, Bobby would find himself tinkering, fixing this and that, and staying busy. If the neighborhood children got lucky enough and it would snow, Bobby would put chains on his garden tractor and pull them on their sleds, all around the neighborhood for a while.
Bobby is survived by his son, Dr. Bobby C. Lenox, Jr., daughter, Mary Ann Freeman and husband, Rick C. Freeman of Muskogee, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Elton Gilliland.
A funeral service for Bobby will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel, 2801 Chandler Rd., Muskogee, Oklahoma followed by a private family interment at Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home. Viewing will be 10:00 am - 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
