Richard Dale Mullican was born October 31, 1946 in Salinas, California, the son of Charles Lydell and Dorothy Mullican (Liston). He passed from this life on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was 74.
Richard to some, Dale to others, served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended Connors State College and later transferred to Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology – Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he received a Computer Science Associate’s Degree from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology – Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was employed by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission in Oklahoma City as a Computer Specialist II.
Richard married Karen Leatherman on October 2, 1987. He and his stepson, Christopher, and son Daniel liked designing and working together on their Pinewood Derby cars throughout the 1990’s in Boy Scouts. One year Richard had the ugliest car, but it won the parent’s race. He bragged about this all the time. Richard was a “Mr. Fix-it.” If it was broken, he always managed to have it in working order before the week was complete. Richard was an outdoorsman and planned fishing outings in detail everyone in the house had a list of what to do. He also liked shooting guns, his crossbow, and bicycling with the boys.
Richard is survived by Karen of the home, son, Daniel Eli Mullican of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Christian Mullican, Matthew Keener, Stevie Knight and Jackson Knight, mother-in-law, Doris Leatherman, brother, Leon Mullican and wife, Barbara, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, brother Jerry Mullican of Muskogee, sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Ann Nalley. Lori Mullican, Kathy Weese, Joyce Leatherman, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles .and Dorothy Mullican, father-in-law Paul Leatherman, step-son, Christopher Linke, baby sister, Mary Mullican, brothers Robert Mullican and Paul Mullican, and nephew, Clint Mullican.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road Fort Gibson, OK 74434 with Stan Staton officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
