Jo was the fifth of eight children, she enjoyed telling stories about growing up in a large family on a farm in Oktaha. Her stories varied greatly -- moving the beds outdoors to sleep in the hot summer months, walking to school with her siblings, and watching the pigs slurp up watermelons with delight are just a few. She loved the television show The Waltons because it reminded her of home.
Berley John Keisler, her one true love, came into her life when he was stationed at Camp Gruber in 1945. They were married within a few months and celebrated almost 74 years of marriage together before he passed away in 2019.
Josephine was a devoted mother. She walked her children to school, and helped the teacher by being a "room mother." Steve remembers Mom watching all his softball games and her good cooking. Faye treasures her memories of Mom's companionship on shopping trips, medical appointments, family visits and phone calls.
For several years Jo worked with her husband at the store, Honey Springs Trading Post, in Oktaha. She enjoyed seeing all the school children and getting to talk to her neighbors.
Josephine was much loved by family and friends and will be remembered fondly.
