There is a wish to say that Oren passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, but how does anyone know that wasn't so? His mom, dad, family and friends of long ago may well have been there.

Oren was born August 28, 1925 in Porum, Oklahoma to Reuben and Nora Sikes. He was the youngest of four brothers and one sister. Due to his father's death when Oren was four his family moved to Muskogee where he was raised by his mother whom he dearly loved. He may not have had the things other kids had, but he was a survivor. He navigated his way through life with a profound wisdom. He was fortunate also to encounter good influences in his life. He was respected by all who knew him. He left a lasting impression.
Oren and Delphia were married on August 28, 1942 on Oren's seventeenth birthday along with their best friends, Jack and Geraldine Butler. For many years they observed their anniversaries by going out to eat. They even lived on the same street for many years. Oren and Delphia were truly devoted to one another.
Oren made the most of his life. He started working at Rose Lawn Dairy and he stayed with that job providing his family with a good life. Through his job he met numerous people whom he remembered throughout the years. He retired from Meadow Gold in 1987. He deserved this time to enjoy fishing, piddling with this and that around the house and enjoying those grandkids. He seldom missed a game or other activity in which they were involved. He lived to be 93 continuing to touch those around him. His nickname was Blackie. Though he said he didn't like it, he once stated in later years that "My friends call me Blackie." Whether it was the jet black hair or a nickname given by his oldest brother after a river gambler, it was special.
He survived by his wife of 76 years, Delphia, two daughters, Lana Dennis and Karen England and a son Oren Sikes Jr. 10 grandchildren, Cindy, Darrin, Tina, Jeremy, Jessamy, Amber, Ashley, Cameron, Kyle, and Grant and 13 great-grandchildren.
