I.B. Branscum, longtime Fort Gibson resident passed from this earth surrounded by his family on February 25, 2019. He was born to Ted Sr. and Mae (Green) Branscum on May 16, 1928 in Summers, AR.

I.B. married Marie Thomas on October 28, 1946 at the Wagoner Church of Christ. In October 2016 the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They lived in Muskogee until they settled in Fort Gibson 1964 where they owned and operated a dairy farm. After selling the dairy I.B. operated B&B Farm Equipment from 1973 to 1991. He was still active selling tractors until recently. He enjoyed collecting, shelling and selling pecans and working with his cattle.
He was a faithful member of the Fort Gibson Church of Christ, serving as an Elder and Deacon of the church for over 40 years
I.B. is survived by his 5 children, Don Branscum and wife Deborah, Jeanette Karnes and husband Joe, Randy Branscum and wife Susan, Lavina Gist and husband David and Chris Branscum and wife Rhonda; 11 grandchildren, Shane Branscum and wife Karen, Shannon Smith, Jodie Jones and husband Jeff, Brian Karnes, Dee Dee Landers and husband Jeremy, Jennifer Yeager and husband Brian, Crystal Thomas and husband Chris, Danny Gist and wife Cathy, Dana Center and husband Bryan, Robby Branscum and wife Hannah and Tyler Branscum; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Ted Branscum Jr.; and two sisters Wadie McCaslin and Imogene Seals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Cecil Branscum and three sisters, Ona Johnson, Floy Higgins and Lucille VanBrunt.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday February 27, 2019 at the Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Mr. Dan Rouse and Mr. Jerry Lee Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Fort Gibson. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Shane Branscum, Brian Karnes, Danny Gist, Robby Branscum, Tyler Branscum and Jake Branscum. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bandy, Charles Dortch, Ronnie Cook and Budo Perry.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Burnt Cabin Youth Camp or to the Hope Harbor Children’s Home.
