Ardy was born on May 10, 1944 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to the late Ernest and Beatrice (Pilz) Rayome. She graduated with the class of 1962 from West High School in Green Bay.
In June of 1967, she was united in marriage to Roger Schmitz. They lived most of their early married life in Green Bay where they started their family, and where she worked in the credit department of Sears. In 1979 they relocated the family to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where Ardy was mostly a full-time wife and mother. She took great pride in caring for and loving her family. Off and on, she worked outside of the home (part-time) at an insurance company, volunteering in the Muskogee Public Schools, and later as a receptionist at the JC Penney Salon. She truly cherished all of the friendships that she made throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband, Roger, children and their spouses, Susie and Matt Farris, Paul and Renee Schmitz, Susan and Kevin Ramsey, her grandchildren Lauren, Brock, Tyler, Amanda, Nick, and Jake, her brother-in law and wife, Ron and Barbara Schmitz, her nieces and nephews, Terry Chambers, Andy LaCombe, Peggy LaCombe, Tommy LaCombe, and Ben Rayome, along with great-nieces, nephews, and granddaughter.
Ardy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joe Rayome, sister Mary ‘Jo’anne (Rayome) Mellen, step-son, Steve Schmitz, and niece Suzanne (LaCombe) Malvitz.
The family will be happy for donations in her memory to be made toward an ALS charity that was greatly appreciated during Ardy’s journey with the disease, the ALS Patient Services Outreach (www.alspatientservices.com), or the national ALS organization that is funding research to find a cure, and relief for patients (www.alsa.org).
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday January 28, 2019 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee with Bro. Larry Lashey officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
