Loyd Fairchild was born March 1, 1921 in Jonesboro, AR the son of James and Ethel (Hood) Fairchild. He passed from this life on January 12, 2019.

Loyd grew up in the Eufaula and Checotah areas. He was a WWII veteran from 1942 to 1945 serving in Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during his time in the service. On April 14, 1943 he was married to his lifelong companion Irene Rooks in Muskogee. Together the two made their home in Muskogee. They were married for 63 years until her death in 2006
Loyd attended Okmulgee Tech where he learned auto paint and body work. In 1952 he opened Loyd’s Paint and Body Shop. Loyd loved what he did and developed a love of restoring antique cars of which had many through the years. He retired in 1989.
Surviving are a daughter, Zelda Comstock and husband Charles of Muskogee; one sister Doris Kelton of Muskogee; many nieces and nephews including Margaret Hayes and husband Bob of Muskogee,, Ronnie Fairchild and wife Patti of Muskogee, Rhoda Kelton and husband James of Muskogee; Rick James, Carroll James and wife Kathy, Fred Fairchild, Marvin Nichols and wife Brenda and Geraldine Hill
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.
