Obituary for Dale Ray Shoemake

Dale Ray Shoemake, Muskogee resident, died Sunday November 4, 2018 in Muskogee. He was 82.

Born September 3, 1936 in Braggs, OK he was the son of James N. and Nola (Trantham) Shoemake. On his eighteenth birthday September 3, 1954 he married his high school sweetheart Phyllis Ann Jones in Muskogee. Dale worked for Yellow Freight Trucking for many years. At the time of his retirement he was General Sales Manager for Yellow Freight. He was a master salesman who could “talk the ears off of anyone”.

Dale loved training and trading horses, fishing and hunting. He was very talented musically, playing any stringed instrument he set his mind to. He was a man who above all else loved his family. His siblings referred to him as “The Proud Indian”.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis of the home, three daughters, Cynthia Louise Maderia and husband Chip, Susan Shoemake Wommack and husband Dale and Judith Ann Large and husband Michael; one son Roger Shoemake and wife Jacqueline Ann; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Gilliland and Virginia Sue Gilreath; one brother Paul Shoemake and wife Barbara. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Fred Shoemake and Clarence Shoemake and one sister Mary Ruth Slape.

Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday November 6, 2018 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson. Interment will follow in Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Fort Gibson.
