Elmer "Ed" Raley
Ed Raley, 93, of Tulsa, OK, formerly of Muskogee, OK, was born June 2, 1924 at Fort Gibson, OK, the son of Sam and Cora (Johnson) Raley and died Friday, December 22, 2017 at Claremore.
Ed was a lifelong resident of the area and member and Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army during War World II. On September 11, 1946 Ed married Betty Jo Shinpo in Fort Gibson. They were together 61 years before Betty’s death in 2007. Ed had several occupations including working at a gas station, working for the sheriff’s department, working 20 years at Sheets Auto Parts, and 20 years at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughter, Joann Poffenbarger and husband, Chris, of Tulsa; six grandchildren, Angela Merrell-McNabb of Tahlequah, David Cox of Tulsa, Misty Nieves of Tulsa, Stephanie Riech of Sand Springs, Tiffani Mutz of Tulsa, and Crystal Osburn of Muskogee; 18 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Lonnie, Burns, Hulett and Lester; and two sisters, Lena Cooper and Linnie Worley.
