Condolence From: Dianne Dooley
Condolence: As an employee of the VA for 32 years, I have had the privilege of working with many different employees. John was one of a kind! Upon his approval in VR&E, he quickly became the go-to-guy for the Oklahoma City out-based office. It didn't matter if a problem or issue was not really in his job description, John would assist our office in resolving the issue. Many times, there were no firm regulations or guidelines in place--didn't matter, John initiated a procedure. Our office quickly learned, do it John's way and it would be done the right way! John had a stellar work ethic and expected the same work ethic from everyone. I will miss him tremendously. Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: John was my best friend when he and I were growing up in Lawton. In those days, our folks would drop us off in the Wildlife Refuge on Friday after school and pick us up again Sunday afternoon. We caught fish and set snares for rabbits to eat. During Vietnam, John and I met each other when the Blue was in port. John was more of a brother to me than a friend and Art and Ella were 2nd parents. Perla, we have never met, but John would call me every so often and we would just talk about everything and nothing. We never lost touch. My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family.

Condolence From: Julie Mason
Condolence: I was trained by John just before he retired from the VA last year. When I first met him, I could see right through the gruff exterior to a man with a big heart. He loved his family and Perla, who he called "the boss"! I will never be able to completely fill his job here at the VA. He had acquired a wealth of information over his years of service here, and there was only time for me to absorb a fraction of that knowledge. I was blessed to have known him a short time, and will always consider my desk and the mail cart as "John's." So, don't mess with John's mail cart!... ;) Blessings and peace to your family as you adjust to your loss.
